Volunteer Experiences

Canadian Blood Services

I have spent time volunteering for the Canadian Blood Services, specifically organizing blood drives in West Kelowna through 2020 and 2021. This experience gave me a deeper understanding of how essential these donations are and how small acts of service can make a life-saving difference. Personally, I am a firm believer in giving all that you have to give to this world and have donated blood, stem cells, plasma and my hair to those in need on multiple occasions. This is a cause that is near and dear to my heart and I hope to continue to bring awareness to and participate in as many donation opportunities as I can.

Coaching

I had the privilege to coach through the Westside Ringette Association for seven amazing years. Between this time I work with the ages 4-15. Each age group was rewarding to work with for different reasons. The younger players were full of energy and curiosity, making it incredibly fun to introduce them to the sport and watch their confidence grow. Older players allowed me to focus more on strategy, teamwork, and leadership development. Coaching gave me the chance to foster a positive team environment, support individual growth, and build strong relationships. It remains one of my most rewarding experiences.

Classroom Volunteering

Volunteering in the classroom solidified my choice of becoming a teacher. I started volunteering in classes when I was in the 7th grade, but then stopped once I graduated high school. It wasn’t until I was applying for the Education program at TRU 3 years after graduating that I made my way back to the classroom. This is where I was reminded of how amazing being in a classroom is. The students that I had the privilege of working with reignited my passion. Their curiosity, kindness, and energy reminded me of why I want to become an educator. Being apart of students journeys to becoming lifelong learners is where I will always feel the most inspired and fulfilled.
